The Shadow Lake Camp Song

Written in the late 1970's by Steve Yablo, revived and recorded in 2001 by a number of Shadow Lake staff Alumni.

Camp Song Lyrics

[Verse 1:]

Seems like summer rolls around about this time every year

And when the days get long and hot the camp is drawing near

And when the days get long and hot I’m thinking special summer thoughts

About going to Shadow Lake

I want to talk to some horses and hang around some trees

I want to splash in some water and feel the warm breeze

I want to walk through some woods you know it makes me feel so good

Because I’m going to Shadow Lake

[Chorus:]

Shadow Lake Camp where the sun always shines

And the skies are always blue and the folks are always fine

It’ll sure make me glad to say hello to my friends

And it’s really good to be back again

[Verse 2:]

I might paint the best picture that I have ever done

Of the flowers in the field or the gently setting sun

I might sign my name and then put it in a frame

Yes, I’m going to Shadow Lake

I might paint the best picture that I have ever done

Of a friend I hold dear or a special someone

And when I’m through I might hold it out to you

Because I’m going to Shadow Lake

[Chorus x3:]

Shadow Lake Camp where the sun always shines

And the skies are always blue and the folks are always fine

It’ll sure make me glad to say hello to my friends

And it’s really good to be back again
