Closure of Shadow Lake Centre for Summer 2020

Shadow Lake has become a valued and cherished part of summer for many people over the years.  Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ontario Government has made the decision not to allow summer residential camps to operate this year. This means we will not be able to operate Shadow Lake this summer.

While this is a difficult decision, we understand and support the need to keep people safe.  Avoiding large, congregate settings is an important way of doing this.  Community Living Toronto has emphasized the need to keep our guests and staff safe throughout this challenging time, and this is part of that commitment.

We will begin providing full refunds, which will automatically be issued to individuals and families scheduled to attend camp. There is no need to contact us to get your refund.

Virtual Shadow Lake Camp

We are working hard to develop online offerings to help ease the impact of social isolation at home during the pandemic. Monday through Friday at 1:00pm we host fun activities on Facebook Live on the Shadow Lake page. Highlights include trail walks, arts and crafts, singing and S’mores making. We will continue to offer these and more over the summer.

In addition to these public online events, those who were registered for a camp session will receive a call in the coming weeks about accessing Virtual Camp during their scheduled camp time slot.  This will be an online, closed group for only registered campers to take part in.  They will be assigned a counsellor and take part in both All camp and small group activities with their virtual cabin.  Virtual camp will run Monday through Fridays of our camp sessions and we expect it to be a minimum of 4 hours / day spread across the day.

All registered campers will also receive a camp kit ahead of their scheduled week.  This kit will include their camp t-shirt and everything they need to participate in their themed week.  More information about Virtual Shadow Lake Camp will be communicated to you in the coming days. So please bear with us as we plan and develop the process.

We encourage you to follow the camp on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates and information as well as www.shadowlakecentre.ca
