Your First Time at Camp

Whether you come by bus or by car, as soon as you arrive at Shadow Lake you can expect to be greeted by lots of smiling faces. Staff are eager to meet and start getting to know you. If you get here and aren’t sure where to go, just look for anyone wearing a Shadow Lake Centre staff t-shirt and they will be only too happy to help you.

Parents/caregivers are welcome to stay for some time after check in. This is a great time to explore the property and see where you will be staying.

Shortly after you arrive, you will be introduced to your Counsellor who will ask what activity you’d like to try. We have games and activities constantly going during check-in days so you can start making new friends right away. Or, if you’d rather do an activity on your own or with a staff member, that’s okay too. Remember, this experience is all about you.

What to pack

It’s time to get your sleeping bag and backpack out! Here’s a list of items that you should bring to camp to help you get the most out of your experience.

“When I come home from my Shadow Lake Camp stay, I immediately begin to make plans for the following summer.  Shadow Lake is my favorite place to be, and I look forward to going all year long.

I love to be at Shadow Lake because my favorite people are there.  All of the staff who help me and encourage me. Meeting up with old friends. The best is when I take those long driveway rides and if I’m lucky I get to see Gary and Marisa.

What I look forward to the most is going for pontoon boat rides. I used to enjoy opening and closing the boat, but last summer my balance wasn’t so great so I wasn’t able to help out, hopefully this summer I will be able to help out more, hint, hint.

I think every person should be able to go to camp. To get out of the city and enjoy the outdoors and nature, and to be around people who are only interested in letting me have fun.”
