“Those of us with developmentally challenged children know that letting our kids out of our sight creates a lot of angst. Of course! How could anyone else who hasn't spent time with them, know how to (anything) the way we parents do. We suffered that the first few years our daughter attended another summer camp. She'd come home in a daze, overweight, covered in bites that she had turned to sores by scratching. We were never far away from our phones (no cell phones then) in those days and in reality, were relieved when her week was over.

Then we switched to Shadow Lake. She actually spoke to us and tried to relate what she had done. Unbelievable! Yes, her vacation from us and now our respite are both happily spent. Though it would be nice if she just once opted to stay with us instead of agitating for "go camp' as soon as summer rolls around. We haven't yet figured out how she knows it is that time but she does.”
