Experience the beauty of every season with Shadow Lake Centre’s Year-Round Camp, running from September to April. Our inclusive programs extend the joy of summer camp into fall, winter, and spring, giving people with an intellectual disability a chance to explore nature all year long. From colourful autumn trails to peaceful snowy days, every visit offers new memories and outdoor adventures.

Your Day, Your Adventure

Enjoy a full day of fun from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.—no overnight stay needed. Each session features seasonal outdoor and indoor activities like hiking, tobogganing, crafts, sports, and games, all led by our caring staff. With small groups and 2–3 dedicated SLC team members, every day feels personal, engaging, and full of laughter.

Participants who need personal support staff are more than welcome to bring them along to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Shadow Lake Weekend

Discover Nature in Just a Weekend

Shadow Lake Weekends are the perfect weekend camp for those who want to enjoy the outdoors and new friendships without a long stay. From Friday to Sunday, up to 10 campers and 3 caring staff share a cozy, nature-filled getaway.

Spend your days snowshoeing, tobogganing, or relaxing by the campfires- and your evenings sharing stories under the stars. Each weekend offers the perfect mix of fun, friendship, and relaxation in a safe, supportive environment.

Come for the weekend, leave with lifelong memories.

A Week of Adventure. A Lifetime of Memories

Our Week-Long Camp is five unforgettable days of fun, friendship, and adventure. Starting each Monday, campers dive into a themed week full of seasonal activities.

Enjoy cooking, arts and crafts, hiking, movies, and themed events—each designed to inspire creativity, confidence, and connection. With caring staff and a supportive community, every camper can explore, grow, and make memories.

Winter Week-long Camp, 2024

WHAT HAS CHANGED AFTER COVID-19?

Shadow Lake Centre remains committed to prioritizing the health and safety of all guests and staff. Updated COVID-19 safety measures have been implemented based on the latest Ontario Public Health guidelines for 2025, ensuring all properties on camp adhere to these protocols.

What Can You Expect This Summer?

COVID-19 Safety Measures:

  • Adherence to current public health guidelines with robust prevention controls.

Vaccination Policy:

  • COVID-19 vaccinations are encouraged for all eligible participants and staff.

  • While vaccine mandates are no longer in place, staying up-to-date with vaccinations, including boosters, is strongly recommended to reduce virus transmission.

Camp Capacity and Support Levels:

  • Operating at 70% of maximum capacity.

  • Accepting all support levels to ensure campers of all needs can participate safely.

Check-In and Check-Out:

  • Conducted outdoors at Crystal Place or in the Barn to minimize indoor congregation and ensure proper ventilation.

Mealtimes:

  • Seating by cabin or matchup group, with ample spacing between tables.

  • Food served by designated staff to minimize contact.

  • Continued emphasis on hygiene practices, such as hand washing or sanitizing before meals.

Activity Programs:

  • Larger group activities are back, with outdoor programs prioritized.

  • Indoor activities will ensure proper ventilation.

Beach Access:

  • Open to all guests simultaneously, with frequent disinfection of equipment like boats and paddles throughout the day.

Bathroom and Shower Facilities:

  • Physical distancing is encouraged in shared bathrooms when possible.

  • Regular cleaning and disinfection by staff, with supplies available for ongoing sanitation.

Enhanced Cleaning Protocols:

  • Additional maintenance staff to disinfect high-touch surfaces throughout the day.

  • Cleaning supplies are provided in each cabin for staff to maintain sanitized spaces.

  • Thorough cleaning of shared spaces, including dining areas, activity spaces, and washrooms.
